Business and Digital Transformation Office

When you walk around campus, you see a lot of cranes, often hear loud construction noises, and might have to re-route from time to time, as we pursue the work of expanding and renewing our campus’s physical infrastructure – to give MIT the spaces it needs to do its best work. Now is the time to similarly renew our digital landscape."

Glen Shor, Executive Vice President and Treasurer

Overview

The Business and Digital Transformation Office, led by Chief Officer for Business and Digital Transformation Renaud Fournier, launched in September 2023. The office is overseeing a multi-year initiative to modernize MIT’s business processes and systems in collaboration with IS&T and in consultation with MIT’s academic, research, and administrative areas. This work includes implementation of the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for MIT.

Looking Ahead

MIT's digital transformation goals include:

  • Modernizing and rationalizing current systems and data architecture to take advantage of better technology and functionality, while ensuring that the new landscape is cohesive and well-integrated

  • Re-examining and simplifying business processes where possible

  • Developing a comprehensive data governance framework that ensures clear ownership and accountability, enabling our data to be accessible and actionable, while upholding data privacy and protection standards to safeguard sensitive information

  • Ensuring IT support models align with newly implemented strategies and technologies

  • Continuously engaging and supporting our community throughout the transformation process
